Alex Radus and Stu Fuchs at Stage 33 Live
BELLOWS FALLS — Although known as a versatile crooner and master guitarist, Alex Radus puts songwriting at center stage, pairing whimsical and poignant storytelling and soulful vocals across an eclectic, toe-tapping mix of Americana, folk, swing, and blues, leapfrogging genres and blurring the lines between them.
Hailing from Pennsylvania’s artistically rich Lehigh and Delaware river valley, where he has established himself as one of the area’s premiere original music artists with his thoughtfully crafted lyrics and storytelling that sticks. He is a frequent performer at the region’s best festivals and venues, including Musikfest, Zoellner Arts Center, Godfrey Daniels, Steelstacks, Hopewell Theater, World Cafe Live, and more.
During his early career, Alex was awarded a scholarship to the Augusta Heritage Center, where he was exposed to and learned from some of the nation’s best finger-pickers, who helped influence his unique finger style and respect for traditional music.
Radus has been direct support for John Gorka, Richie Havens, Jeffrey Gaines, Tim Reynolds, Darrell Scott, Chris Barron (Spin Doctors). He was a staple of NYC’s early aughts Anti-Folk scene at the Sidewalk Café, performing alongside Regina Spektor, Nellie McKay, the Moldy Peaches. More recently, he was selected as a 2024 Falcon Ridge Folk Fest Emerging Artist and voted a “Most Wanted” artist to return to the Main Stage in 2025.
“A a remarkable artist… excellent guitarist, songwriter and singer… moves across multiple genres with effortless virtuosity… worth going out of your way to hear.” — John Gorka
Stu Fuchs is an award winning musician and a teaching artist who empowers people of all backgrounds to express themselves creatively. A classically trained, improvisational multi-instrumentalist, Stu blends mindfulness and music, from bright and playful to relaxed and meditative. His concerts are like a combination of a summertime lawn bowling party, a mystical poetry reading in a Bedouin tent, a smoky jazz club, a nuanced recital hall concert, and heart-opening meditation class.
Stuart has performed his genre-bending ukulele instrumentals and soulful songs at concert halls and festivals across the USA and internationally. He founded and played lead guitar in the award winning quartet Babik, in which he arranged and performed the gypsy jazz music of Django Reinhardt with symphony orchestras. He was awarded a grant from the National Endowment of the Arts for his work bringing healing music to cancer patients; he was a professional artist in residence for eight years at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo NY.
In addition to being a ukulele minstrel, Stu has toured to three continents performing gypsy jazz guitar and meditative guitar styles with renowned sacred chant artist Snatam Kaur to audiences of 5,000 people. He recorded on her Grammy-nominated 2018 release Beloved.
“Respectfully pushes the Ukulele to brave new heights, while keeping one foot rooted in a number of time honored traditions.” — Lil’ Rev, Author of the Hal Leonard Ukulele Method, Entertainer & Music Historian
Stage 33 Live is a casual and intimate industrial-rustic listening room in a former factory hosting local, regional, and national performances and presentations of original material. No bar or kitchen, the stage is the mission; coffee / soda / juice / water and weird snacks available by donation. More information about the nonprofit, all-volunteer project, and this and other upcoming events, online at stage33live.com
Stage 33 Live gratefully acknowledges the help of so many individuals without whom none of this would be able to happen, and institutional support this season from The Island Corporation, WOOL-FM, Guilford Sound, and the Rockingham Arts & Museum Project to help fund improvements and maintenance, and generally smooth out a lot of the rough edges. Stage 33 Live is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and all donations are deductible to the fullest extent. Volunteers run the thing from stem to stern.
