Here’s a little fun fact: In the early ’80s, before Altan existed, fiddler / lead vocalist Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh (she’s regarded as one of the great female singers of Ireland, by the way) formed a short-lived band named Ragairne with, among others, a then-unknown musician from Gweedore, Eithne Ní Bhraonáin, later known as Enya.
