BELLOWS FALLS — Carolann Solebello has a history with Bellows Falls, having been a three-time performer at Roots On The River plus appearances at fabled local venues Oona’s and Boccelli’s. She’s a performing songwriter from New York City, best known as a founding member of Americana trio Red Molly. She now tours as a solo troubadour and with modern folk foursome No Fuss and Feathers. Her smooth, pitch-perfect voice, compelling lyrics, and warm yet accomplished acoustic guitar work nod to rural folk traditions while an urban sense of rhythm and sophisticated phrasing plant her firmly in the present. She’s won a pile of songwriting awards, and is currently working on her sixth solo album.

Marc Douglas Berardo composes song-length fictions that mine deep feelings and real-life lessons and situations, and delivers them with an engaging onstage presence and deft storytelling. His sharply drawn, award winning song-portraits cast a net on unusual and beguiling characters — circus retirees, ex-pats in Florida rum bars, union ironworkers, old poets, aimless New York City debutantes, near-death car crashes, hard-nosed fishermen, and the changes that experience brings to everyone. He has shared bills with heavyweights like The Doobie Brothers, NRBQ, Guy Clark, Vassar Clements, Ralph Stanley, Buffalo Springfield, Martin Sexton, Steve Forbert, Justin Townes Earle, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Cheryl Wheeler, Lucy Kaplansky, Livingston Taylor, David Olney, Jimmy LaFave, 10,000 Maniacs, and John Hiatt.

BELLOWS FALLS — Aleda Bliss is a Vermont-born and -raised performer, producer, songwriter, and poet. In her first appearance at Stage 33 Live, she presents an exclusive in-the-round Listening Party for her unreleased new album, Every Song on This Playlist Is for You, enhanced with performance and projection art.

The album, written on returning to her home state during the pandemic, was co-produced and recorded in Burlington, Vermont, with indie-pop producer Christopher Hawthorn. She calls it “a striptease with grief… it’s about oppositional force, the way we simultaneously shed and bloom. And the patience that takes. And the tenderness. And the trust.”

In a media world that thrives on instant saves and replays, this Listening Party is an open invitation to sit together and ask the question: How do we listen with no guaranteed repeat?

Johnny Gifford and Trevor Robinson will open with largely improvised unnerving ambient treated-guitar and -bass, maybe synthesizers, and maybe sax, and probably voice.

Internationally celebrated singer-songwriter Rupert Wates with special guest Tom Pirozzoli at Stage 33 Live

BELLOWS FALLS — Stage 33 Live welcomes the return of London-born, Oxford-educated Rupert Wates and his thoroughly American acoustic folk steeped in deep wells of cabaret and jazz on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 7:00 PM. With the lyricism of Gordon Lightfoot and the attention to craft of Richard Thompson, his highly developed songwriting is by turns vulnerable and bold, featuring intricate lyrics and memorable melodies, exceptional guitar skills, and a smooth, expressive voice. He’s released eleven acclaimed solo albums and won dozens of songwriting awards, and his work has been covered by artists in the UK, Canada, and the US, including two tribute albums to his material. The doors to large venues and big festivals are open to him, but he prefers intimate, up-close audiences in small listening rooms where the emphasis is on the music. The recognition that regular people are what make the world extraordinary reflects in his vivid, sophisticated songwriting about the American experience.

“A prime figure in American music.”Folk And Acoustic Music Exchange

“As the former manager of the late Harry Chapin, I’ve heard my share of story songs. Rupert’s are right up there with the best.” — Bob Hinkle

Tom Pirozzoli’s recordings have had national and international success, and he’s in the Smithsonian Folkways Collection. He’s been on the Top 40 AAA charts, had a featured release at Tower Records, and has worked with artists like Greg Brown, Jesse Winchester, Doc Watson, and Willy Porter. Sophisticated guitar playing forms a rich backdrop for his warm tenor, with melodies and lyrics exploring a wide range of the human and global experience. His encounters with people, cultures, and ideas while traveling Europe, South America, India, Southeast Asia, China, and Tibet continue to enrich and deepen his music. His relaxed stage presence features endearing, funny, insightful spontaneous patter. These days, Pirozzoli only performs a handful of times annually as he focuses on his successful fine art career. Stage 33 Live is enthused to have him back in the room.
