A Few Fine Gents, Technicolor LTD, and Man Made Tragedies at Stage 33 Live

BELLOWS FALLS — Stage 33 Live is running a Local Curator series of shows this summer, turning over the room to local heroes and letting them call the shots. The first one is Ezra Holloway’s, born and bred just around the corner from Stage 33 live in Saxtons River, Vermont. He’s assembled a rousing three-band banger of young rising bands that will bring heat and energy on Sunday, June 7, 2026, starting at 7:00 PM.

A Few Fine Gents is a fusion jam band based in Westchester NY known for improvisational jams and blending genres.

Technicolour LTD is a crunchy band from Brattleboro influenced by ’90s alt post-rock, post-hardcore, and post-punk.

Man Made Tragedies is an ambitious power trio known for their live shows of original music that blends punk energy with raw emotion.

This one will be loud.

Carl Goulet and Sandiland & Vincent at Stage 33 Live

BELLOWS FALLS — Like many rural musicians, Carl Goulet is a hidden gem who flies a little under the radar… an honest and heart-forward performing songwriter with the chops and fluency of artists who get a lot more attention. Passionate, sometimes political, sometimes humorous, always thoughtful. The Daily UV said that his album Gazebo “charms the listener with gentle melodies yet packs a punch with the depth of wisdom and love.” The clarity and purity of his writing and performing is seldom matched.

Similarly, Sandiland & Vincent have carefully honed their craft over years, producing songs with beautiful arrangements and tight, rich harmonies. Vincent has been playing guitar and bass for over 50 years, and Sandi has been in bands and duos since she was 19.

This is going to be a sweet yet weighty two-for-one 3:00 matinee on Sunday, June 28, 2026. Stage 33 Live, along with Dave & Sharon Pelland, Rick Holloway, Chrisman Kearn, Andrew Dey, Circuits in the Woods, WOOL-FM, anonymous angels, and Rockingham Entertainment Development are sponsoring four classic movies at the Bellows Falls Opera House this year. July 1: Coal Miner’s Daughter (2h 4m, 1980, PG) is a 1980 American biographical musical film that follows the story of country music singer Loretta Lynn from her early teen years in a poor family and her rise as one of the most influential country musicians. Based on Lynn’s 1976 biography of the same name, the film stars Sissy Spacek as Lynn. Tommy Lee Jones (with red hair!), Beverly D’Angelo (as Patsy Cline), and Levon Helm (in a terrific turn as Loretta’s dad) are featured in supporting roles. Ernest Tubb, Roy Acuff, and Minnie Pearl make cameo appearances. Lynn chose Spacek to portray her, despite being unfamiliar with her films. Sissy ended up winning the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the part. The film is considered “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress and was selected to be preserved in the United States National Film Registry in 2019.

July 1: The History of Future Folk (1h 28m). A comet threatens to destroy their planet, so the citizens of Hondo enlist their most decorated soldier to search for a new home. Landing near Brooklyn, he wanders into a megastore to unleash terror and is enchanted by a human invention called “music.” He abandons his mission, assumes the name Bill, and launches a bluegrass act. The Hondonians send an assassin to get the mission back on track. Subduing Kevin is no challenge for the great General Trius… they join forces to save Hondo, prevent an intergalactic takeover of Earth, and hopefully get some bigger gigs for the universe’s first Hondonian bluegrass duo.

The Milkhouse Heaters and Phil Henry at Stage 33 Live

BELLOWS FALLS — Stage 33 Live is running a Local Curator series of shows this summer, turning over the room to local heroes and letting them call the shots. This show is Jan and Mike Sheehy’s, perhaps better known as The Milkhouse Heaters, who live and breathe right down the road from Stage 33 Live.

The Milkhouse Heaters are refugees of the Boston music scene, where they were nominated for a Boston Music Award and shared the stage with The Black Crowes, Corey Glover, Fuel, Feeder, and Hum, and their songs are on compilations alongside the likes of G. Love and Special Sauce, Jack Johnson, Burning Spear, and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Their music has been licensed to television shows on ABC, VH1, MTV, ESPN, and ESPN 2. They moved to southern Vermont in 2007, rolled Americana into their punk roots, and became The Milkhouse Heaters. They’ve opened for Fred Eaglesmith and closed for Billy Bragg, had two songs featured on The Shoulder to the Plough CD, and were repeat invited performers at the Roots on the River Festival, and have played The Plymouth Folk and Blues Festival twice. They’re beloved not just for their strong writing and performing chops — they’re also ardent supporters of local music and activists-by-example for considered, considerate living.

Phil Henry is a singer-songwriter steeped in folk tradition, but not bound by it. He’s penned a treasure chest of relatable tunes about both everyday and extraordinary life, building detailed worlds and characters with vivid imagery, upbeat rhythm, and strong melodic sensibility. His songs are often described in cinematic terms by fans. Although he studied the masters in music school, he was drawn to the DIY pluckiness of folk music. He’s earned contest wins at SolarFest and Susquehanna Music and Arts, and showcase and main stage slots at Falcon Ridge, was showcased at Kerrville and the NorthEast Regional Folk Alliance, and has played celebrated venues like Club Passim and Caffe Lena. No carbon-copy of popular songs or folk radio, his art is an expression of individuality and craftsmanship.
