Dave Richardson and Tom Pirozzoli Co-Headline in Bellows Falls

BELLOWS FALLS — Tom Pirozzoli is celebrating Reckon by the Light, the newest CD in his 40-years-and-counting career. He got his start busking on street corners and performing at anti-war rallies, eventually finding his way into the coffeehouse scene. His Fast Folk Music recordings are now part of the Smithsonian’s collection. He was named a winner in MUSICIAN magazine’s Best Unsigned Band Contest in the early ’80s, and has shared stages with artists like Greg Brown, Jesse Winchester, and Doc Watson. “Pirozzoli’s observations and travels bring seemingly dissimilar elements to harmony.” — Boston Globe

Dave Richardson has been writing, recording, and performing as a solo artist for over 10 years, weaving threads of folk, country, and traditional music. He took third place in the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival songwriting contest; was awarded a featured showcase at the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance Conference; and was an invited performer at the New England Folk Festival. “True folk rooted in the tradition is increasingly rarely encountered. All the more reason to celebrate the music of Dave Richardson.” — Fervor Coulee

3/15/20: (NIXED BY COVID-19) – Dan Weber and The Milkhouse Heaters

RESCHEDULED! Sunday, March 7, 2021 – yeah, that’s a year from now. Dan will have a brand new CD hot off the presses and be rarin’ to go, and The Milkhouse Heaters may have a new one by then as well. Sounds like a great plan!

March 12 at 7:30 AM: The world is nutso at the moment, and a LOT has happened in just the last few hours. Dan and Jan and Mike have all agonized over whether or not the show should go on – it looked like it was going to be a go, but yesterday the dominoes really started toppling. The prudent decision has been made to cancel. Dan is suspending his entire tour, and Jan and Mike are hunkering down. (Jan is in the at-risk category, and the world definitely needs her for a long while longer.) We hope to reschedule this show when things are back to a generally happy and secure normal.

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Dan Weber co-headlines with The Milkhouse Heaters at Stage 33 Live, 33 Bridge Street in Bellows Falls, Vermont, on Sunday, March 15 at 7:00 PM. By performer request, tickets are just $10 in advance or at the door. Advance tickets double as front-and-center chair reservations. Limited seating. The performances will be recorded and filmed.

Dan Weber and The Milkhouse Heaters co-headline in Bellows Falls

BELLOWS FALLS — Dan Weber won first place in the 2019 Woody Guthrie songwriting contest, and is a rare three-time finalist in Kerrville’s ‘New Folk’ competition. His songs have been described as “reminiscent of early John Prine” and “insightful and awfully funny.” His album What I’m Lookin’ For rose to #2 on the folk charts, and he’s toured extensively across the country.

Weber didn’t start performing in public until he was 40, but immediately began winning over audiences with energetic performances and hilarious stories… he’s been described as “The Classic Mid-Life Overnight Sensation.” He’s also a former National Park Service Ranger, recovering altar boy, Eagle Scout, and lifelong Deadhead.

He’s a three-time invited performer at the Roots on the River festival, and Stage 33 Live is pleased to have him back in the area.

“I love Dan’s songs and he tells really good stories.” — Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, legendary folk troubadour

“A rare combination of wit, emotion, and vivid, Harry Chapin-esque imagery.” — Rick Foster, The Sun Chronicle

“4 Stars: The touch of a true master craftsman songwriter.” — Alan Cackett, Maverick Magazine

“Weber’s writing is as strong as any in the contemporary folk community.” — Christopher Anderson, The Victory Review

The Milkhouse Heaters are beloved in these parts. In addition to their strong writing and performing chops, they’re a pair of the most ardent supporters of local live music and considerate living to be found anywhere.

Jan and Mike are refugees of the Boston music scene, where they were nominated for a Boston Music Award and shared the stage with The Black Crowes, Corey Glover, Fuel, Feeder, and Hum, and their songs are on compilations alongside the likes of G. Love and Special Sauce, Jack Johnson, Burning Spear, and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Their music has been licensed to television shows on ABC, VH1, MTV, ESPN, and ESPN 2.

They moved to southern Vermont in 2003. Mike bought an acoustic guitar and started writing Americana songs. With Jan on bass, they became The Milkhouse Heaters. Highlights since then — among many — include closing for Billy Bragg and opening for Fred Eaglesmith, having two of their songs featured on The Shoulder to the Plough CD, and being repeat invited performers at the Roots on the River Festival.

This co-headline show is on Sunday, March 15, 7:00 PM at Stage 33 Live, 33 Bridge Street in Bellows Falls, Vermont. The performances will be recorded and filmed. Seating is limited to 40. At the performers’ request, tickets are just $10 both in advance and at the door. Advance tickets double as best-in-house chair reservations front and center.

After completing the transaction, you should be redirected to a “success” page and get an email from Paypal. You should also get a confirmation email directly from us (assuming you entered a working email address). The name you gave will be on a list at the door. All you have to do is show up.

Don & Jenn: Love & Music

BELLOWS FALLS — Don & Jenn are Don Sinclair and Jennifer Grossi from northern Vermont, who some may recognize as two-thirds of the literate international band David Rosane & The Zookeepers. Jenn was additionally the producer for the Zookeepers’ “Book of ZOO” CD, which won a Tammie award as Best Vermont Rock Album in 2019.

As a duo, their bluesy soul, gentle folk, and sexy jazz originals are heartwarming, fun, and cheeky. Jenn’s warm, expressive voice and theatrical experience brings extra life and nuance to their intimate sets.

3/29/20: (NIXED BY COVID-19) – Kirsten Manville and Tim Foley

POSTPONED, like everything everywhere. New date TBD.

Kirsten Manville and Tim Foley will perform both separately and together in this co-headline listening event at Stage 33 Live, 33 Bridge Street in Bellows Falls, Vermont, on Sunday, March 29 in a limited-seating 3:00 PM matinee. Kirsten Manville and Tim Foley at Stage 33 Live

BELLOWS FALLS — Singer/songwriter Kirsten Manville creates songs with elements of Americana, folk, country, and blues that feel like they may have come straight from journal entries. Deceptively simple lyrics tell evocative stories about finding and losing love, hard times and small pleasures. Her warm voice infuses the songs with feeling and depth. Her latest album, Some People Sing, was a Metronome Magazine top-five album pick (and they subsequently featured her on the cover), and her song “…but Down” was an Alternate Root Magazine top-ten.

Tim Foley’s sound doesn’t settle easily into any box. He lived in New Orleans for a number of years, and his music is heavily influenced by that city’s tradition of experimentation and fusion. He gravitates toward blues, jazz, folk, classical, and funk in a variety of tunings, picking and strumming styles, and vocal timbres, making his shows consistently surprising with songs ranging from upbeat foot-stompers to melodic soundscapes. Tim’s next full-length release is scheduled to drop this year.

Kirsten and Tim will perform both separately and together. This co-headline listening event is a 3:00 PM matinee, comfortably nestled between lunch and supper. Sunday, March 29 at Stage 33 Live, 33 Bridge Street in Bellows Falls, Vermont. The performances will be recorded and filmed. Seating is limited to 40. Tickets are $10; advance tickets double as best-in-house, front-and-center chair reservations.

4/4/20: (NIXED BY COVID-19) – The Fantastic Partnerz

POSTPONED, like everything everywhere. New date TBD.

– – –

DANCE PARTY! DANCE PARTY! Live music, all ages welcome! The Fantastic Partnerz are bringing their butt-moving, good-vibe tasty motown r&b funk to Stage 33 Live. You’ve got to get up to get down, and this will be the place with the Partnerz’ sonic brew that defies categories but always always always grooves.

Listen to their CD Tomorrow is the Future on bandcamp, it’ll all make sense.

They’re low-key about this, but the Partnerz are sort of a supergroup of veteran underground funksters, punks, pranksters, and secret folkies: Keene Carse (Urban Blight, The Beastie Boys, The Fleshtones) grounds the band with smoothio vocals, trombone, and funky drumming; Trish Naudon (America’s Sweetheart, The Natch!) laces in sexy vocal stylings and tight beats; Dave Rountree (Text Betty, Smiley Bob) locks down the low end with bumping bass and backing vocals; Eric DeLuca (Hungry Ghost, Lars) swipes flavorful keys across the top; and Chris Thomas (Lesion, furniture music) adds dirty guitar and vocals.

This show is in partnership with our Windsor-based pals from What Doth Life. Put it on your social calendar. More details are coming.
